Both are more skilled at their respective position, of course. Great carry could be an average support, and vice versa
i feel like you need to be so much better in overall game sense to play support at 5k level. and im pretty sure the 5k support could play core easily if he wanted to
that's what i also thought till my support only 5-6k teammates missed 90% of the lasthits in a freefarm lane.

whatch siractionslacks, he is a 5k+ support omni spammer , but he is like a 2k carry. than it depends from my prespective those guys who spam 1 role 1 hero to gain that mmr , i think it is 'fake mmr' for this exactly reason, cause there are guys in 5k that can play aslmost everyrole , many different heroes and be decent ofc they will have a favourite one. but i cant compare a guy like siraction slacks with another 5k play which have walks through many roles and is more skilled in everything than slacks but they have same mmr cause siraction sucks is a spammer.

when you are a spammer at 5-6k, you can only play that hero, but you play that hero better than any oponent plays your counter.
the problem with that is that you're like 6k with that hero and 4k with every other, or even 2-3k at the roles you don't play
that's why i didn't just keep on spamming SK, i expanded my pool by playing other heroes and then re-gaining my lost mmr with sk till i learn those other heroes.
so you literally can be a 6k midlaner and a 2k support.
and vice versa
example, i played illusion 1v1, he had 6.5k mmr which he got all by support.
when i played him 1v1, his mid laning was literally 3k level but his supporting was 6.5k.
even though he was 1k mmr above me, he was not even close to me in laning.
same counter example for me, my laning is amazing
but my roaming as a pos 4 is basically non-existent.
I am a 500 mmr laner
If there is someone out there who want to feel good about themselves, I'd be more than willing to open dota just to lose more 1v1s

At a high mmr though you are better having a carry play support than a support playing carry.
Supports don't have the same mechanical skill. Whereas anyone can buy wards whether they are well placed well or the carry doesnt buy the correct support items.
I'm a support player. I can play viper/luna/ursa at the level I need to but if you throw me on a different carry i play like 2k
U wanna add here that there is a tonn of good core players yet small fraction of really good support players

and yes roamer is a pos 4, aka a support.
any roamer, not just SB.
p.s since there's 3 core roles and 2 supporting roles, ofc there's gonna be more cores.
also considering that roaming is a high mmr concept, in low mmr there's 4 cores and 1 support
