necro mid. I also like viper mid but clueless teammates can even find a way to ruin the momentum of a snowballing viper.
You only play mid necro then? I tried to add zeus over the last few weeks to my mid hero pool but as I said I am just bad at carry and can't seem to make it work.

I go mid and use Lina, storm, ember, sf, of, but I can manage even picking other things like viper, huskar, Zeus, etc. In 1k basically it doesn't matter how good u r at the hero, my skill at any of these heroes varies and how good they r in the meta varies as well. What matters is your basic mechanics and how good you are at the position in general.

I can easily win with my 4 teammate (yeah, LAN party) with almost 80%+ winrate.
If i'm with my friend, i am pos 1/2 player with 600+ avg.
Then it turns into hell when i solo queu.
I always support when solo, because f**k that carry with 300 gpm xpm avg.
P.S : we got from 2k to 3k party mmr less than a month (with play only weekend), party are much better.
Mid : tinker / invoker
Safelane : spec or terrorblade (but since it's nerfed recenlty, i changed him with sven)
Offlane : centa / axe (blink cc type)

MID: ARC, MEEPO, SF, TINKER
OFFLANE: BROOD, LEGION
SAFE: SLARK, TERRORBLADE

@fritz invoker is kinda weak atm and tinker is extremely annoying but not quite broken.

the heroes i listed are booster heroes, these are the most reliable heroes at 1v9 in dota
TBH I've won a lot of games with od and Lina and shit, thing is these heroes r more easily countered and r situational
U want a hero who u can consistently pick who consistently can win solo
For me that hero is sf
I can only boost with mid sf or maybe carry slark.
And i played aganst a booster who was forced to aupport tonight and i fuckin rekd his carry so bad that we stomp3d the game
Broodmother, Abaddon (Radiance build) or Timbersaw offlane = free tickets to 4k in no time.
Tested it on 2 accounts.
Broodmother is insanely effective @ <4000, assuming you know, how to play her at least decently.
Everywhere higher - still insanely effective, but starts to depend more and more on your individual skill.
Hell, there are lots (relatively) of guys in 6-7k bracket, who play almost only Brood since 3-4k.
Support is actually the best role to climb when you are already high. Players have almost no exposure to proper supporting when they climb from low to high, so most supports players are awful around 5k. Learning how to support gives the team a massive advantage.

After almost 2 years in finally starting to narrow down my hero pool for efficiency purposes. I've tasted what 4k play is like with my party games and the teammates are just far better up there.
Who do you use to boost mmr?
I'm naturally a support player but I play all roles just don't have diversity in the carry roles since I don't understand the farming patterns for all heroes.
Safelane: ursa/Luna
Mid: viper
Offlane: underlord
Roam: tree/spirit breaker
Support is my natural position so I literally choose according to the situation I play all of these except kunkka and visage at a very high level.
Practically is a 90% chance of loss if I play any carry other than those I listed. :(
