my favorite cheese strat is LD hotd. get skeleton summoner + necro and all the creeps get the battlecry buff, super fast siege. just have to win a fight somehow lol
Great at ganking, pressure on lanes and quick tower pushing early game. After twenty minutes, the game gets continuously difficult for you. Keeping creeps with good aura's for your team, as well as being tanky enough is quite difficult after their carry is killing them in 2 or 3 auto attacks.
Mid to late game, the more creeps you have (and the better control you have over control groups + switching units) the better. Your job at that point is to not die first and try to let your creeps take the brunt of the damage and root + stun chaining. Also, your TP ability is pretty great, and don't forget to use it.
Edit: I've only played a handful of games, but it feels more like hundreds and hundreds of hours because of how agonizing it is to play the hero after 20 minutes in.
If it is a 40 minute game +, just sell all your shit and get Blink Dagger and Dagon 5.

I had like 12 wins in a row with Chen in 6.86, solo ranked. But since map has changed, its bigger and its harder to break highground, this hero is extremely situational now, just for pushing strats. My wr dropped from 55% to less than 50% after 7.00.
From what I see the only way to maintain impact in mid-late game is rush Aghanim after arcanes + mek and skipping everything else, apart from wards ofc.
Chen used to be super ez to win with, with not much effort to go HG. Now creeps are weaker,its hard to get teammates together for your time window, time window is much more narrow now, enemies counter you with aoe like Phoenix,Sven - its much more difficult now to play this hero effectively. Chen wasn't picked even once on last Majors - that means something.
But.. When you learn the hero, you receive countless commends.
Your ideal creep on lvl 1 is Bird. You can easily clean stacked camp with it to get 3lvl asap when you start ganking. If you are lucky enough to get Satyr on lvl 1, you can pressure enemies since lvl 1 already. Ideal creeps for lvl 3 is Troll and Satyr. Together with Penitence you can kill anyone.
Ofc micro is not easy, but the biggest problem with this hero is when to start playing from behind. Early game you should smoke and play from the front. I think after 10-15 min you have to transition into playing from behind, especially when you push t2s, so you can actually save people and dont feed with your own hero.

I dont agree. Using Satyr's lvl 1 impact on farming creeps is a waste. Instead u can pressure enemy mid player with it, and stack camps at the same time. Bird is much better to farm stacks with, since u can clear 2 nearby triple stacks using one hurricane.
i think troll or cobold are the best for lvl 1, they both allow you to gank immediately
also wildwing is good to zone the midlaner
very good if you would like to 60mins jungle, clash then jungle. rinse, cycle, repeat.
when chen stays in jungle? i thought he just go there to pick a neutral, gank, repeat
