    pls forgib off topic

    Ok, so just this month I started REALLY taking weight loss seriously with a strict exercise routine and a watchful eye on the food I eat(I was that guy complaining about how to fight cravings for rice, still near-delirious when fighting the urge for seconds). So far I'm seeing results, but how I motivated myself this time around is by tracking my progress on my phone with a gps app, counting the kilometers I run and bike every week(as opposed to what I did in my last successful attempt at losing weight, which was just by subjecting myself to the judgment of the measuring tape around my stomach bi-weekly and committing to memory what my target waistline should be).

    There's also a feature in this app which counts the calories you burned depending on the type of activity you're trying to track, which is quite neat. I never thought about counting calories burned against the calories I take in, so why not try it this time around?

    So basically I try to aim for at least 6 km everyday when running, I also check the calories burned and it says close to 700 kcal. Ok neat. But when I check for the calories I take in, it says for a cup of rice I take in, it should be around 200 cal worth of energy. Wait. So 700 kcal = 700 KILO calories = 700 000 calories, right? So that means I have like enough leeway to eat as much as 350 cups of rice? I'm no absolute health nut, but something tells me there's something not quite right here(probably because I'm NOT an absolute healthnut to start with).

    Can someone explain to me what am I missing? Is kcal=cal as the app seems to imply?

      u have not burned anywhere near 7 kilo calories that's completely absurd on so many levels.
      idk whats up, but ur just not burning that many calories.
      also git gud boi, I eat shit and run 45-48 kilometers every week and I'm skinny haHAA

            so basically u burned 700 calories, which is what I imagined.
            tho a cup of white rice wont destroy it as much, some other unhealthy foods can rlly backtrack ur process by a lot without u eating much.
            a lot of the processed foods of today have extreme amounts of calories.
