It's easier to manipulate the result if you don't calibrate early, like if you have a lot of really good games you might place higher, but by then it's not by much, you'd have to have had great games really early on to make a serious difference plus with the cap they introduced recently you don't get higher than 3.5k so it really doesn't matter much. I think it used to make a bigger difference but that was a while ago.
