bkb can be worth sometimes against storm especially or nyx but positioning is ur best tool. skadis the only raw hp tool ur hero ever buys (i get it some games after MJ)
tldr usually mostly glass cannon. pike/edge/skadi are ur only real hp items and bkb is bought if u cannot dps without guaranteed getting stunned/hexed -> dying
I don't get what you mean. Your recent 70 min sniper game you had Daedalus and butterfly which are dps items. I don't like silver edge and skadi on sniper, I think you want pike and one more stat or defensive item like skadi, s&y, manta, linkens, silver edge, satanic or bob. Rest should be dps by default id get butterfly, Daedalus and mjollnir but swap for mkb as needed. Early deso can be game breaking too.
At 70min as pos1/2 i am 6 slotted so that doesnt mean much.
What i meant is i go for dps items, at least sometimes, since some time a bit eariler than before, but always in my head there is small voice "go for skadi its safer". And i am wondering if there is any situation you should go for it - no matter what items you have if they jump on you - you are dead - thats my main concern. Look at this game:

OD blinks on me, hexes, and i am dead even with skadi. I was trying to convince my teammates to get some defensive items like liken or lotus but they didnt listen. I didnt find bkb fixing the issue of this kind of jump because before i use im hexed. And with 1 dps item less i was having problems with getting them down.

i have almost 110 games on sniper, with 67% winrate in ~4k bracket. I find myself pretty good on this hero, with decent map awarness and fine lane presence.
However i often find myself in situation when i do not know what to buy.
I go phase (almost always) into dragon lance and then most likely mael into pike. And this is standard build i feel comfortable with. From that point i'm trying to figure out what suits best: vs something like briste/pa/spec im trying to get silver edge, sometimes i build bf for more mobility i often go skadi to get some tankiness. And here is the question: is it worth?
Quiet often i finish game with super safe build that drags the game because i can hold HG long enough to get that next DD item but it is because i feel not secure enough to go deadlus/mkb first or second after big item. From the other hand no matter what items i have, even being 6 slotted, pa jumps on me and with some luck she crits twice and 6slotted sniper goes into the ground. Should i just focus on positioning+full damage and screw stuff like skadi? I almost never get bkb/linken because i feel that in that 4.5k mmr games people do not build extra mobility vs sniper and i can avoid anything that could be problematic like rp/ravage/stuns and sniper is so much slot dependant in my opinion going for bkb is waste of slot.
People in my bracket often have problems with 4 protect 1 and even if i ask them to get something that can prevent/mitiage risc of being caught/blown up it is ususally up to me.
