Pick timbersaw, but seriously though, as long as you dont get hooked, you will be fine. Be aggressive, control the runes, ping your retard teammates whenever he is missing from mid, plus pudge mid right now is not that good anyway.
Don't be afraid to trade hits with him, he has no armor.

Dodge hooks, if he man fights you with rot kill him. Hooks are easier to dodge cus u are melee and can stand right by creeps. Most melee mids have enough dmg to kill him
problem with melee is u can't harass him as he's engaging you for a point-blank dismember/hook and therefore can't actually kill him before he kills you cause of the hook... at least i think that.
literally just stand in/behind the creep wave, if he rots you trade hits. when he hits lvl 5/6 buy an observer so he doesnt hook you
pudge mid is autowin for any mid hero and is incredibly easy to kill if he starts rotting
so stand in the creep wave is obvious, but what if he also stands in the creepwave and is harassing you? sure you can trade hits but then he can hook and ur dead.

Just play ursa mid and run at him. If he hooks u he dies. Go blink aghs and then even dismember doesnt work.

As a start pudge isnt a good mid laner. His lh animation sucks, low armor, slow ms, and no innate escape.
The only thing that you need to worry about him is his hook, added with rune control and u got 1 less enemy to worry about.
Or u know just pick axe or lifestealer and ruin his day.
yea he also has ~270 pure damage nuke, so if u stay close to him chances are ur just gonna feed him... unless ofc you can kill fast enough or have over 800 hp.
next time i play a melee mid (never i think, pa doesn't count) ill try playing extremely aggressive.

you know 0 armor and 3 armor isn't that big of a difference when your attacks hit for 50-60 dmg max
but yeah i was really braindead to forget that you must play mid aggressively almost every time xD i guess i just didn't know how to be aggressive with ember.

If you trade 5 hits because pudge wants to lasthit creeps:
275dmg to pudge
230dmg to you
Then you dealt 45 more dmg to pudge than he did to you. Thats 1 free lasthit, not to mention if you play something like nightstalker who has 5 armor and base HP regen, you pudge cant do shit.
offlane usually but safelane is also good imo

0 armor to 3 armor is a huge difference because it means regen like tango and bottle heals relatively less ehp. also the creep wave hits a pudge for example way harder than it hits spirit breaker. especially if the pudge is a retard and doesnt buy stout shield (idk what bracket this is)
yeah difference of 10 base damage. which is also nullified if pudge starts with a ring of protection (which is not an entirely bad choice as he likes tranquil boots).
however its enough to give you the advantage in trading hits, but i suppose the ultimately key aspect is to get aggressive as early as possible until he gets levels for painful hook.
his hooks arent even that big of a problem, every melee hero has some sort of nuke. You will always be able to kill him before he kills you.
ah 270 pure damage. spammable? maybe two times before mana runs out, three tops. 110 mana on a str hero is a lot. accurate? if you dont position like a fucking retard, no. even if you do come point blank creeps may get it if you move around. if you get hit by all three, you gonna die? hmm 810 pure damage does seem much, but the hook has 14 sec cd. tango restores 115 hp over a duration of 16 secs. if you get hit by a hook + rot harass, just eat a tango and jump right back in, his hook accuracy isnt 100% accurate and his rot is self damaging
conclusion? buy a lot of regeneration like 8 tangoes and 1 salve. all in all that costs 360 gold, and you have 625. this leaves you about 260 or something similar. use that to buy a quelling blade if you know pudge is going to outlasthit you, or a stout if youve got no problems with mechanical skill. then bully him out of the lane with your regeneration, make him burn his sustain, deny his bottle for as long as you can
after he gets his inevitable bottle, deny him rune control. just get runes even if you dont have a bottle yourself. pudge doesnt need to win the lane, he just needs a tempo going on for kills. yes you may get ganked but teams are super uncoordinated in lower brackets, people barely rotate. and even if they do, timings are shit and most likely either one of them shows up while the other is a bit far, in that case take the rune and get out. maybe you can even get a kill on the support if he's dumb
try to push the wave once, see how he reacts. if he sacrifices the rune for the creeps, keep doing that. he wont be killing anyone with an empty bottle. if he still gets the rune, contest it. dont continue to push the tower, starve him of hp and mana, mostly hp. pudge is just a big soft creep if he is mana starved. make him spend gold for clarities, which you should cancel, or mangoes
idk if you should keep doing this as a voker tho
ta also has 5 armor, storm has 5 armor, pa has 4 armor, dk has 6 armor etc
pretty much any hero can trade hits with pudge easily. tinker/invoker have lower armor but cold snap and laser make it ez as fuck anyway

yea well ember has 1 armor and now i see why i fucking struggled there a bit, coz i bought a QB instead of RoA parts therefore couldnt trade hits as well.
i did buy pms to remedy that issue but by the time i got courier with it he already had nasty hook damage.
No, you should get Pms, and harras pudge with flame guard + chains, once u get 6, u have unlimited mana and HP regen supply
lmaao. just pick kunkka and place ward on pudge mid. you just hit creep with tidebringer and pudge will be hitted too. if pudge hook u, u just use torrent and trade hit with him, after you got lv 6 it ez kill.
