I don't think he is meta but he should be. 6.87 buffed him a lot. He can somewhat counter all heroes with his bkb piercing disable (with the help of his teammates). IMO, blademail is a must have item. Sometimes you can probably make a comeback by activating blademail and bersker's calling that enemy carry who has a lot of right click damage.

He is dogshit in the early game if they have 2 ranged heroes, he cant even kill creeps with his helix lvl 1, now his build changed, you need to max helix, your haras is still good to max, but helix is more important so you can control the lane.
Because he is a playmaking hero and NS plebs can't pull off that kind of great plays
Which is why nearly every single faceless void that I see are shitheads and didn't have much impact in the whole game (except for my irl friends)
He is situational, I pick him whenever theres huskar+daz or against atleast 3 or more meele heroes

I think if I would play axe I would get boots>blink>blademail>vanguard.

get vang first then blink. you can do ancient stack as soon as you have vang, and you can have both blink and vang by 10-12 without getting a single kill.
can't pick him every game, but he dumpsters carrys like PA, who gets played a lot.
also i usually get blademail after blink+vang and then arcane boots to make lotus. good items are also force, euls, and ofc BKB.
im fairly certain you could go talon axe jungle and insta win your games if you are 3k or below.

I think blink is better than VG. Initiate with blink, get some kills/assists, and farm for VG. You'll just get kited without blink and it takes away most of axe's purpose (being that jackass in teamfights).

maybe its the way ppl paly axe in ur games is not efficient. but i feel like axe is quite strong and works in most matchups of my skill bracket. i like the hero. not sure how he is in upper brackets. but blademail buff has made him quite strong IMO. easy to catch ppl out at my level, and easy to farm with axe despite the nerfs. he can contest safelane easily if the enemy is uncoordinated which is usually the case in SEA. and if he fails he can always go talon.
i actually think his main strength would be blade mail. for that reason, and for good timing, he has good impact going blink first then blade mail. my concept of how he should be played could be wrong though. but this way seems strong. yet most ppl would either go van first (afk longer), or blademail 3rd (delayed impact). i duno
With Vanguard first you are tanky but slow as fuck, and Axe can't do anything when he gets kited. Blink is what lets you initiate and kill people so you can actually be useful.
Only go vanguard first if you have someone stacking ancients for you, if not, forget it, get that blink and slaughter bitches.

how is he in the meta? i dont see much axe players nowadays except for those jungling/backdooring tards, like, when should you even pick this guy? also, how hard does he fall off? and what items do you need past tranqs/blink?
