Is There Really No Tolerance About Accidental Usage of GG In DOTA2 Tournament Format ? in General Discussion
BTC

    Just a few hour ago, we're stomping really hard our enemy in a tournament and managed to take down their top barrack in 20 minutes mark. However, one of our team member accidentally selected GG from chat wheel when he intended to use WP instead (in all chat). This accident then led our team to insta-lose even though the reality is far from it. My question, is there really no tolerance about that in DOTA2 tournament format ? The people running the tournament seems to insta-decide that our team loses without even trying to look at the reality. The match is also broadcasted live in a huge monitor so they definitely knew that we're stomping them hard.

      yes, as long as it is not a shitty amateur tournament.

        however some admins of low tier amateur leagues/tournaments think that it is a good idea to imitate the competitive environment wihout taking into consideration that they are dealing with less experienced and dedicated players, and using the same system makes very little sense.

          Man ... that's really harsh. It is a small / amateur tournament (only for the same major in our university) but if that's how it goes i guess next time we should remove that damn word from every team chat wheel. Never want to feel this much salt anymore ... ugh

          Wrath

            Lul you can cancel it, is it really that hard to press a button?

            sisyphus

              pretty sure the admins consider it a forfeit like in starcraft, though it's impossible to accidentally gg in that game

              tough break, if it's in the rules then everybody should've made sure to unbind it before playing

              TripleSteal-

                @yan
                you cancel it, but the admins of the league put a tech loss later on even if you actually win the game.

                Beks

                  HAHAHAH RETARDS REMOVE THE GG WP WHEEL AND WRITE ,,GG,, IF NEEDED STUPID 1K SHITS GO LOSE MORE

                  Mushi

                    I hosted a tournament in our college involving 64 teams, and in the rules I stated that:
                    "All the players in the opposing team intentionally disconnecting or calling Good Game (GG) is universally considered as conceding the game, however it is not an indication of the game being over until the ancient breaks."

                    It depends on how the referees phrased their rule and how the other PICs understand it. You can try to look up for the rules now to read how it is phrased although I shall say that it is too late to do it only after something like this had happened.

                    EDIT: And if it is explicitly stated that even calling "GG" indicates forfeit with no grounds for reversal, then you should really put that GG off your chat wheel. Why keep things like GG and WP in the wheel when there are simply better things to put. Although in your situation you probably wanted to say "WP" out of good will, in a pub game no one really cares, let alone a tournament.

                      @darko
                      Well, duh ... i'm sure nobody in any team expect this thing to happen especially for a small tournament.

                      @Mushi
                      In your case, does using chat wheel considered as typing ? Iirc our rules only stated that "the game wouldn't end until one of the ancient destroyed or any members on the team -TYPED- 'GG' in all chat"

                        pause then say sorry, miss click chatwheel?
                        i see at pro tournament they accidentally say GGWP, pause and say sorry for missclick.
                        and enemy say no problem and match resumed.

                          We did, but it's useless. The admins just decided we're insta-lose right there.
                          I think this is also because our enemy came from older year and didn't want to accept the lose #SeniorityProblem

                            Just say "fun game" instead of "gg" or even say "fg" so it does not trigger while you are winning.

                              Break the arm of one admin, and the leg of the other, see if that solves the problem.

                              One time in a soccer game there was a referee that was clearly fucking up the game because his brother was on the losing team, i came at the speed of sound and tackled him (i think i almost broke his ribs) I said "too bad the referee isnt that honest" only for him to hear, after that i got a red card, but he stoped with the fucking, and we won.

                                accidental ggs happen all the time and just saying "oops srry" is enough to call it off. maybe a pause if u are super morally conflicted, but this was done by resolution multiple times (including i think during ti) and nothing happened. it happens

                                if ur in some shitty tier 3 tournament then thats another issue, but from when ive been on teams we'd just disable our chat wheels or unbind GG from the commands list just in case that would be an issue

                                  Are you sure this is all that happened? You weren't flaming in chat, and you didn't have any bad blood between your team and the tourney admins? I find it absurd that an accidental GG can be considered an automatic loss. Either the admins are stupidly draconian with their rules, or they didn't like you and interpreted your offensive GG as bad manners (which is taken very seriously in games like Starcraft).

                                  Either the admins were idiots or you guys pissed off some people beforehand or both.

                                    Nope, aside from usual glhf at the start of the match we don't chat at all (plus it's banned). There's almost nobody in our team even know who the real persons is since their team is from older (the oldest one in fact) major. We immediately said sorry about that but the admins decided we lose after pausing the game for a sec to "discuss" about it. I heard this discussion happens INSIDE the room where our opponent playing so there must be seniority involved here.

                                    Btw, i also got new information that : if you're part of the committee that host this tournament, you're free to participate in it but your team must -NOT WIN- in the final. This info came from one of our member who is in fact part of the committee (he even shows us the real message) ...

                                    *Sigh* Makes me sick and wonder how the real worlds would work in the future ...

                                    We just released an updated hero and facet statistics page featuring more data and advanced filters. Oh, and it supports Turbo!
