He should be played as an utility hero, so get items that your team needs the most.

One of the best crimson pipe mek carrier I think. TP near an enemy tower as 5 with crimson and pipe and you suddenly have a very hard to stop push. I don't think most pubs would be able to deal with that given that your team knows to at least stick together especially if you have the right heroes.

The old is has PT, BKB as core, starting with Urn. Situational are Silver Edge, Heart, Satanic.
The new is has core like Io (Arcane and Meka) add Blink. Situational are pipe, greaves, lotus, linken, crimson, Vyse.
I haven't judge which build is better, I just play with him 2 times with old build. If I find my style, Volvo suggestion may not useful at all.
