Hotsalza take 1900 games and 800 ranked match. Im too young, its not gonna happen in a month i think.
Mekarazium how much did you calibrated?
Yep, I was 2.2k like 2 years ago. It's entirely possible. Back then when I WAS 2k, it was hard. But now if I smurf it's ridiculously easy. 90%+ winrates no problem.
2k is a joke.
I was 2.7k 2 years ago, now I'm 3.7
I'm still kinda shit tho, It's just that I stopped playing ranked
It doesn't matter your age or how many matches you've played. I've played 6k matches and I struggle to get 5k, but people can get 5k with much less. Has to do with talent, how hard you try to actively improve, how seriously you take it, your strategy to climb, etc.
It can take a lot of time to climb but it can also be fast.
I was 1.6 2 years ago and am now 3.3 solo, 3.5 party.
You can and will get out. One of the biggest things I can tell you is to not rage. And this is coming from a guy that used to be extremely toxic.
If someone is being a bitch in chat/voice just mute them. Don't reply, just ignore them and focus on your game.
Learn from your mistakes. Be very honest with yourself. Do not blame your team, blame yourself. I mean obviously if there is the ocassional troll/greifer then just mute and report them, but never blame your team. Try to work with them and give them a "well played!" prechat when they make good plays.
Saying good things gives your team a little edge.
Just play and practice more.
I used to be a carry person, but now I main support.
I am proud of myself too since I started playing Phoenix and at first was at 33% and now have a 57% win rate with him
It is if you are really really good and is truly 1k above the rest in that bracket, which most likely you wont be because you ended up there. It then takes an huge amount of time to climb. Thats why you shouldn´t play rank EVER before it says High skill on atleast 40-50 solo games in a row. You learn absolute nothing on how to play really good in those low ratings. If you want to learn then play Normal games until you get High skill. It takes patient and time to get better in Dota2. If your goal is to get high mmr then trust me its worth playing 500+ games in Normal games than 500+ in ranked. You climb a lot faster in Normal than in ranked games.
Calibrated at 2k flat peak at 3.8k currently 3.7k . Took me 19 months from day I started to reach 3.8. Although I reached 3k flat pretty fast took about 4 months to reach 3k from starting . Hardest for me to rise out of 3k compared to 2k wich happened fast , never played in 1k except maybe party.

This
There really needs to be a guide for new players to honestly just sign up for dotabuff, and stay out of ranked until they get high skill spams to not be placed in shit tier.
Because if you get placed in shit tier it is very difficult to get out and takes a lot of time because you do not learn much. And 3000- is where majority of trolls/greifers are.
And again, you do not learn anything.
2 years ago I was 1.6k and took a few months for me to get to 2k and then a year later I got to 3k and fell around 2.7 - 3.1, but now my mmr is 3.3/3.5 and I plan on getting to 4k, and used to spam carry, now I main support and plan on supporting 98% of my games since I actually enjoy the support role the most and people love support main players lol I get a lot of love for it and it rules c:
is yasp broken? i have a terrible profile cause i cant play dota good and it tells me i might calibrate at 2.2k. dafuq?
2.7k exactly 2 years ago now 4.8 and 4.9 smurf
it took me 8 months to go from 2.7 to 4k and 14 months to go from 4 to 4.9 coz i was so satisfied with 4k and started playing again when i realized how shit 4k actually is
all the players started at a 0 mmr level, just that some of them played long before the ranked was introduced. there doesnt exist a single high rated player that wasnt bad at some point of time.
Started at 1.8k, now i'm 3.2k. Didn't play any ranked after that, got better and when i started to play ranked again it took me 4 months to climb where I am atm.
I calibrated at 973, dropped to around 880 at one point. Now I'm 3.1k. Been playing since January last year.
started at 2.7k, now 4k
i knew how shitty it was in 1k because i played with one of my friends who has fucking 900 mmr. played ursa but those god damn sick reflex and logic of those players.... even tho i won the game but if i was having to endure that i would have gone so mad just as mad when facing similar situation in 3k. so i sometimes appreciate to have calibrated somewhat high (still noob tho, dont flame me xD)
i have a friend who was calibrated at 2.3k or something who is now hovering around 3.9k to 4.2k. all he did was to learn a high skill cap hero (which was meepo for him) and just spammed the shit out of it until he got really good at the hero and got some easy points with it. he doesnt play meepo now, but the mechanical skill he learned from playing the hero sure carried over to his other heroes, and now i'd say he's a pretty good (at least, in 4k standards) all around player. oh, and this was all done by over a year.
as for me... calibrated at 1.8k 2 years ago, and spammed omni and other dumb stuff to get out. as a result, im still barely 2800 solo and 3k pt who cant get out of shittier because im a shit player myself.
i hope you all get the lesson here.
i calibrated at 2020 and havent bothered to play ranked since. think ive got like 15 ranked games only.
Been having a rough losing spree lately as i havent been playing as much.
I'm not 4k yet but I climbed from 2.2k to 3.6k in a month. Currently 3.4k~. My lowest "peak" was 1.9k. It's very possible to carry yourself out of low skill, you just need to get better at the game. That is literally all it comes down to.
At the end of the day I cant keep a straight face when people tell me they cant get out of their skill bracket and it's impossible, and then proceed to pay a booster to do the exact thing they said couldn't be done.
Edit: Picture of my MMR graph for proof. http://i.imgur.com/yDacBiL.png
main account was <1k like 1 or 2 months ago, now recently just got first vhs (average was above 4k) solo Q match (busted coz our mid feeded, but im positive I'll get back there cause apparently my riki gameplay is worhy of vhs, even though am not vhs player just yet - lack experience). So yeah if you get spectacular performances when smurfing, consistently, you should climb very fast. But of course you have to smurf, climbing out of 1k, especially if you even like playing pos 4-5 heroes, is unreasonable, if you value your time.
You can see my matches are NS, even LP, but they are not ranked. The fact that most matches consist mostly of 3-4k players means nothing to the skill bracket in this case.
^ only takes 40 more wins than losses to go from 1k to 2k no excuse to smurf . 40 more and your 3k . From there just grinding to 4K is within grasp . Once u stop playing Riki u just gonna fall back down any ways screwing people .

This is bs. It's the same thing if you calibrate and climb out. You will rise once you improve regardless.
if you're good you will climb. A lot of people just dont like this logic because they dont want to realize they're actually bad at the game
Started in early 2014, played nothing but pubs that year cause I was kind of casual, then for new years resolution (when 2015 started) I said I would start playing ranked that year, so I did, Calibrated to 1.9K, now 4.4. Probably would be higher if my attitude wasn't so shit for a year, it's improved a lot though.
I think if you just focus, try your best every game, literally mute your team if you have to, JUST PLAY THE GAME, and get rid of the emotions, eventually you'll hit a winning streak, then just start riding the momentum.
I see you're normal skill, you probably made this topic for some motivation, don't blame you, it's tough, I remember I used to love reading peoples journey to 5k+ stories, and loved them even more when they climbed from 1K to wherever they are.
Thank u guys, yes im normal skill and i saw some people comment in this forum that this normal skill is like trash. Im really sad about that.
Yorkey yes i made this this thread to motivate myself.
just dont rage, i rage to much, after some time i just want to feed.
i am 1.3k, calibrated a long time ago at 1.1k, played 40 games i had 100 full games that time and i randomed every game, so i staled and got back to nmm, got into some high skill games (3 in a week) some time ago, but they just disapeared after i started int ranked and now it will be 2.106k, thing is int ranked mm is so bullshit, i had to carry a game where i was 1k mmr bigger than the rest of my team, so after those 40 games i will just trade the mmr and play on rmm to climb.
