i wont trust booth. But yea i agree most name represent persons mindset, most likely his attitude not skills. And for me ill trust a bit someone if their hav a decent wr, gud stats, wide hero pool, and unretarded wall feed
any time i see someone using a pro players nick i cringe and my break my items meter goes up by 10%
I definitely find grammatically correct and simple, one word names that roll off the tongue like Arteezy, Miracle, Puppey, and Dendi more appealing to me.
Although some pro players have names I don't seem to like personally (SoNNeikO, Illidan Stormrage, CeMaTheSlayeR, MinD_ContRoL, etc)
it triggers me when their name is like this : jungle is bad, qweytega123, udiemeansfeed
My username effects on my attitude in someway. Mostly postive. About others if they have russian or non eng name i know i should play 50 time better
Usually I pay no heed to usernames. Seeing directly negative usernames definitely lowers morale though, things like "safelanecarryorfeed" is definitely not something you want to see. Makes you feel like the game is more likely to be lost to the players inability to work with the team.
Fairly common for anyone who gets mad at me in-game to make references to the word "trash" being in my name. "Trash player just like name jaja" things like that. Had this name since my youth, it's here to stay.
On loading screen when i saw usernames like "Core only" "muted all chat" "i dont trust anymore" or "**** this shit" i straight up disconnect before its says " all pick". when face enemy with those name i normally wins.
When someone uses a pro player nickname (dendi miracle and etc) , u just know that their fucking trash.
It affects me for a bit, but when it comes into the gameplay it doesn't really matter.
I've seen some people with weird usernames, but they played really good.
My username really boosts my gameplay. I try hard to be fast & blurry before my enemies. I try to live up to my name
The only time my username affects my gameplay is when i change it to Davai. ... for obvious reasons
Once I met a player with a private profile with a nickname "Uebok na SFe"
In russian uebok = scumbag, na = at/on, SF - shadow fiend. He inta locked mid on the map and first picked SF.
Despite my negative expectations, he played flawlessly and we ended the game in 30 mins or so.
u see all these xXX*[Pu$$y34t3r3000]*XXx u know thats a kid or just a troll pretending, all these random numbers and letters dg4asdf94fsdg647sd9... means that someones mad and will feed in ur game, cuz he lost like 10 in a row and ofc u don't even need to read the name u can tell by their pic whos a fuckign weeb like mashiro, hatsune miku... all these fucking names xD and then there are the ones that only retards choose shit like Na`Vi.Dendi, Arteezy and all that other crap while being 2k trash oh almost forgot the ones that have MID, MID OR FEED, CARRY are the fucking worst pretty much, they mostly flame, are awful at the game and all that other bad shit.
It certainly lowers my expectations of teammates when the name is "muted all chat" or "fuck Peruvian scum" or "美国狗都是傻逼" or "mid or feed", but it usually doesn't matter if the player plays well. If the player fails hard though, I'm more likely to report someone like that, especially if they live up to their name.
I can tell that triples name is very true, he will always steal a kill even if he plays most useless support, he tries to last hit it :D
All those player names with random numbers/letter capitalization/pro players (your typical 3k "Na'Vi.Dendi") OR people with some random cute girl as a profile pic.
Those people are usually cancer.
Any name that indicates they think their team is bad makes me think we're gonna lose. They are usually terrible but think they are awesome and flame all game.
Pro player names, and anything with some negative remark about dota like midOrFeed, perusucks, jungle=lose whatever. People with racial or offensive nicknames are usually dicks but not necessarily bad players like isatonyourmomsface or something, probably a prick but maybe not a bad player.
My friend has a "Road to 500 lose streak" and then "I like to cum on my screen" dats too hillarious XD
Oh yeah my propic is Sparkles reacted to souvenir dragon lore edited like meekoo
when someone calls the lane with their alias i just dodge. there's no use reasoning with those types of people
negative attitude names i can deal with but if i see 10 losses in a row or something i'll consider dodging that too
My name used to be yoloswag I had to change it cuz it tilted my teammates a lot if we were behind lmfaoo
^ dive t4 say YOLOSWAG in chat lol
I have F6 set to We fucking lost!!, in ally chat, its so gud, i see a tard diving t2 at 10 minutes i just spam that shit.
I usually give up when there is like 2 people in my team with the name sam.wisconsin, tyler.simmons or whatever. It just gives me the idea that its a 12 year old that has no idea how to even change his nickname. And then you look at their profile level... level 10 or even 5... then you pretty much know you lost xD
i put soundboard man as my name because i have a soundboard which i often use to make the game a bit more fun. it also allows people who do not want to hear it the option to mute voice chat right away if they do not enjoy memes. Keep being dank dota

How much of an effect do you believe usernames have on a player's mindset even before the drafting stage.
Example, would you trust a person with the name "Triple" more than a person named "xXTr1pleSt3al-_-Xx" in the midlane even though you've seen neither play?
