Recalibrating in General Discussion

    Hello, guys!
I have a rather old account and I calibrated it when I almost just started playing Dota. I got 2k mmr only, so I understand I'm not good enough to boost it by myself. I bought a compendium to recalibrate. What do you advise: to start calibrating right now or to try to move to higher skill bracket beforehand? And is it hard or at least possible to upgrade '1k games played in normal skill' account? What should I do for it. Would be really grateful for any advice or help.

And if I start calibrating and will get a 2k first calibrating game, will second game have higher average mmr if I take a break in calibrating and will upgrade skill bracket?

Yes, ou should improve before recalibrating but you only have limited time for it.

Remember you have to play 40 games with your recalibrated MMR to be allowed to keep it so don't leave it too late.

How come u can recalibrate with compendium?

I think its meant to be Valve's way of stopping smurfing while making money at the same time. Instead of someone making a smurf to try get a better MMR, they might instead buy the compendium because that way they can recalibrate their account and keep all the items they have on that account.
If this is something that Valve plans on doing each year with the TI compendium it will probably help reduce the number of smurfs since if they weren't happy with their MMR, then they could practice on that account and try again next year.

And how to recalibrate? I got only this account since 2012 and im 3k, I climbed 1k last time but I still dont think its enough. I would rather jump over those 3k and 4ks.

Umm all my calibration games are being 2950 mmr which is 800 below my mmr so no way recalibration going to be worth it for me . I've done 4 games so far

I'm still being stuck with 3.2lers. even though I have stomped them in 4 out of the 5 games I have played. Usually 600+ GPM, 1st or 2nd highest HD, and 1 in TD every time. I feel like it's too reliant on your hidden MMR.

You will not be able to calibrate more than 100-200 mmr higher than your current mmr, even if you do super well. Almost certainly you will calibrate at the same mmr or a little lower.

how do you know your hidden mmr?

Did you get it already? I got 2384 solo mmr (against 2070 original mmr). Honestly, I thought I was going to get a little bit higher than this... Did anyone get any higher difference, something like 500-1000mmr difference?
