i played l4d2 just casually for a while, i've never played pvp so i sadly don't have any idea what are you talking about
though i have the same impression from 4k games. though my games are probably still easily winnable since it's still full of tards
i think that the problem is that nobody knows what to pick and either me or opponents can steamroll if they (randomly) picked good heroes without having any clue what they're doing
pve isnt as easy as you think, yeah, in lfr u can right click the boss and afk, but everything higher than lfr requires lots of coordination, also you need to know your rotations and how to play your class to get as much dmg as possible

my guild was the 2nd/3rd i dont exactly remember to clear hc ds in cataclysm on the realm, i was the highest dps as arms and i never had bis, unlike others. as long as u have non autistic members in the group you can clear every raid with 1 hand. pvp gear is enough to clear older patch raids like highmaul and brf. dragonslayer pugs are retarded, they always have been and they never let u join with pvp gear even if its 2 patches difference in between while they have better stats and everything.
also pvp has always been unbalanced because of the pve cu.nts, devs always tried to balance specs for pvp and everytime they changed something and it affected pve shitlords started crying on us forums and devs would change them again. thats why until wod frost mages were never a thing in pve. it only took blizzard 8 years to realise they can make separate talents for pvp and pve and its apparently finally coming in legion
