How many games on Normal/High/V.High in General Discussion

    What is the percentage distribution on these considering all dota games? (Also considering normal/ranked seperatly?)

        probably 50% normal, 40% high, 10% v.high or something along those lines. but nobody knows for sure.

        and for those that say "omg ther3 no way 50% normal1!" there are so many ppl who don't play very much or tryhard very much that outweigh the tryhards.

        if you scaled it on ppl who are fully ranked (100 games/lvl 13 + calibration) then it's probably more like 40% normal, 45% high, 15% v.high) or something like that

          On December 2013 it was 90% normal for unranked matchmaking:

          This is the latest official data as far as I know.

            I always assumed it was around
            50% normal
            40% high
            10% v high (1% of this 10% actually know how to play)

            You don't even start playing the game until around 5k mmr. Even still its a Shit show

              Skill Distribution for the Last 7 days:

              Keep in mind we don't get 100% of skilll data for matches. There is a low percentage that we don't get, which is predominately in the Normal Bracket. So the normal should be slightly larger. Sorry this isn't the best way to digest this data.
              Top = Normal ~74%
              Middle = High ~14%
              Bottom = Very High ~11%

              Probably almost exactly 75, 15, 10 when you account for the skewing I spoke of.

                so roughly 10% very high then?

                  Edited comment to include rough %'s. We estimate we get almost 100% Very high, so if anything it should be over represented in this data. 75/15/10 seems like reasonable boxes for Valve to have kept people in.

                    Also looked into % of games without skill that we don't get... it's probably closer to 1% overall. With most of those games in Normal. It's more likely to happen during peak playtimes as well.

                      This was a fun investigation. I can't wait to see what the MMR data looks like once we get some more. Although I've noticed from some anecdotal investigation that normal/ranked MMR can seem fairly different for accounts that don't regularly play both.

                        Thanks for the data! I totally forgot Dotabuff can now accurately collect match bracket. Can you also post the difference in distribution between normal and ranked mm?
