It’d be retarded if true. Mmr isn’t a reward a for good behavior - that’s what reports and behavior score are for.
It would be really good if it were true. MMR is earned and by abandoning you condemn the other 4 players on your team to -25 mmr.
when you leave, do your teammates get -25, or do they get less mmr loss on a lose? or do they get the same -25?
What ever happened to the poor connection quality thing that made it safe to leave if everyone in the server had high ping? Haven't seen that come up since like 6.88

Your team mates lose the same -25 if you abandon. (unless they actually win 4v5)
The only ways that doesn't happen are if someone starts to afk or dc's before first blood or the 5 minute mark of the game (whichever happens first) and then abandons. If that happens then only the person who abandons loses mmr, nobody else gains or loses anything.
As Steve said it can also happen if the server has a bad connection quality but I haven't seen that happen for a couple of years.
Mmr isn’t earned. It’s just a number so we can have balanced games. There’s already LP for abandoning
