Struggling to get out of Crusader and into Archon in General Discussion

I have been trying to get into the Archon rank to get into a little bit better ranked games. I play a gnarly support hero but can't do that in this low off MMR to get boosted. Plus the mentality of those low MMR's are frustrating. What do you suggest I do get to that next level of MMR?

just spam your cristal maiden and you will be fine

Higher rank games are still toxic, all brackets are. Change your mindset when going into rank more towards improving(not to get +25) and only blame yourself for all your game loses, Keep that mentally, dont play expecting to gain MMR, play to learn. Also if you play support, avoid playing way late midnight, after 2am most carry in game are drunk and high.

also you die too often on your cores

There is no difference lol. Aim higher if you want to feel the difference

Also no, please don't play more cores. We have enough cores wannabe. Please pick support and make your team win the game for you

you cant get out of that bracket unless u use carry urself....or u hard carry with a support..there i said it

                  cartel

wrong...you obviously can if you play a high impact support
not cm or dazzle or that weak shit
BUT it still wont be as fast as going offlane or mid and taking over the game after winning lane
but you gotta actually be able to do that tho...you gotta know how to take over a game after destroying the enemy laner
you can try to learn booster heroes like brood or meepo or arc and go mid
or try a less mean approach and go offlane with axe sk brewmaster
but you gotta learn the heroes by heart then learn to play them in 1v1s then learn to play them by watching replays
i have like 900 hours in game....and i played like 600 matches or something...so at least a 100 hours of watching replays

Buy dota+ and go role matchmaking. Tenfold better. Also if you are a nice guy and do want to play with other nice guys visit taw.net and apply. We play 2 inhouse lobby games a week 5 vs 5 friends to practice and have players from Guardian all the way to Ancient. You can learn a lot. I recently climbed from Crusader 1 to Crusader 4 and I am almost at 5 now.

I admit it's rather hard to climb from Crusader to Archon, even by playing main cores (1/2). Because most players doesn't really understand how to cover / adjust decision making for their team.

In this bracket, even if you play good as cores, but:
                            - Your supports doesn't know how to read games, hence they didn't put their ward in the correct area at the right time too. Some of them don't even know that wards placement can be setup in accordance to team advantage (i.e. either we need offensive, defensive, or neutral wards). Where we needed the vision (to gank? to control runes? to cover RS area? to cover core's farm? to look at passages? etc.), and when is the good time to put them. Also I see many people still put wards in the 'mainstream spots' which is very easy to deward (like, on the 'Eye-mark' spots.. 30 seconds.. pooffs.. the enemy eat that ward. Of course). That's one thing. There's still a ton more things which Crusaders supports aren't doing properly.

Now if you played good Supports, but:
                            - Getting other people to play Cores in Crusader bracket is like taking a Gacha. You never know. Some of them good, some of them played too many weird and costly decisions. Some even don't master the basic CS-ing to contest the creep and keeps equilibrium in laning stage while sustaining decent HP. I know it's not a fun experience when you see it.

After climbing from Crusader 3 to Archon 1, I can say that the better (but might not be the best) bet is to play Pos 3 or Pos 4.
                            A) Pick a strong initiator with lock / stun (kind of Axe, Centa). Cover your cores in war so they don't easily died (this could save your team from being punished for mistakes too, which is huge). Let them survive, you build sustain items (Mekans, Crimson, Pipe, Vessel). See your cores are starting to get some kills because they're surviving the battles, and your team then able to push.
                            B) Pick a roaming support with disables & escape abilities / items (Shaker, SK, Mirana, etc.) and do some playmaking to counter-play your enemies (It's not that easy, I know). Again, save your cores, create some spaces, push lanes where you can push. Hide. Read the game and put wards / dewards where your Pos 5 doesn't seems to put the correct ones.

This way, you'll have more control over the game, and mostly gain a better experiences by overall. You'll step up before you know it.
                            Hope it helps.

Overall tips to win Crusader games:

                              1. Push out lanes. I have so many games where I am literally the only player who constantly pushes lanes. Especially if I play Underlord I love to push out my offlane for example, TP or Dark Rift to the opposite lane, push it out, walk mid push the lane walk top push the lane, tp bot push the lane and son on. I often force 4 man rotations from the enemy team. My K/D/A looks shit, but I create so much space for my team by having the creep waves always on the enemy side of the map.

                              2. Hit fucking towers. Really. After you win a team fight or find core pickup what almost everyone in Crusader does is to either dive for anyother kill not watching the respawn timer and ending up dying themselves, or go and farm some random small/medium camps in the jungle. DON'T DO THIS. Instead hit a fucking tower and push out the lanes.

                              3. Buy wards as pos 4 or 3 if you really need it as 2 or even 1. If you see your teammates don't buy wards and even after asking them to do so they still don't, well invest that bit of a gold to buy your own one and secure your farm/team. It is better to have a pos 2-3 buy some wards than having 0 vision on the map and blame your team.

I am constantly climbing upwards just by following these very simple rules.

I climbed Crusader to Legend, in my opinion:

1: I think offlane is best for climbing. You will have impact, and the offlane spot is something you can get most of the time.
2: Pick something that is easy to execute with (Axe) or hard to execute against (Panda) or a combination of the 2 (Bristle). Bristleback has like 2 spells on permacast, without much of a cooldown, so you can focus on last hits, denies and positioning.
3: Hit towers after winning a teamfight.

Get good, thats the best advice i can give.

                                          Innocent

I pulled myself out of crusader by supporting. Focus on having a clean and solid game every game. Never ever blame anyone else but you. Sometimes there's nothing you can do, but most of the time you do as many mistakes as your teammates. Things I focused on in Crusader:
                                            Stack, pull, harass.
                                            Never feed.
Try to get offensive wards in as much as possible (if it's safe to ward!). I see so many people warding their own jungle and then loosing because the other team has a specter and all they did was farm their own jungle for 40 minutes.
                                            Buy smokes.

With smokes and offensive wards, you can control the flow of the game and get your team to be more aggressive and take objectives, which is often lacking in Crusader.

Last point: the trench never ends. Mentality does not change with MMR, so ranking up will not solve that problem for you. If anything, I met more chill ppl in Crusader than Archon.

some people here giving advice but not applying it to themselves omegalul, but seriously i played in crusader bracket when i play with my younger brothers account,i got it out of lp, if you really want to get out of that bracket pick core and outfarm your enemies cause theyre slow at farming, develop a farming pattern and practice your cs and congrats youre out of that bracket, i recommend playing ember spirit if you know how to play it cuz its easy to split push and farm safely with it esp in your bracket, and also you can easily dodge projectile stuns or smth

Too ez to climb out of crusader to archon and to legend. Been there done that 3 times :D

                                                    скрытый бассейн

I was able to climb from ~1300 to ~3400 mmr (proof: https://www.opendota.com/players/87528400/mmr ) using this strategy.

It's hard to gain mmr playing support on low ranks, my suggestion is to train several meta heroes, like huskar, necrophos etc. which doesn't require much micro skills and go mid/carry pos in every game.

Also ask your teammates to get last pick in every game, because counterpicking enemies is a thing in dota (I used this website to find counterpicks: https://counterpick.herokuapp.com)
