How relevant are hero winrates? in General Discussion

Obviously if a hero has a winrate below 45% then they probably aren't good, and over like 54% means they're getting nerfed.

What about the mid 46%-53%? Keep in mind that dotabuff also takes into account the people that play certain heroes in roles they don't belong with terrible item and skill builds.

My thinking is that this mid range is for heroes that are balanced as intended and picked when appropriate.

During past hundreds of years playing dota i found this:

If you're playing dota for fun (still for winning) global winrates doesn't mean anything, you can learn and winning with any hero in the game, i mean they are really somehow balanced.

The thing is to learn to win with them, win game as spectre is something incomparable with low winrates heroes, the effort you need to put in as for example puck, wisp, druid players is insane, the difference in all around apm (actions per mins) as well.

These low-winrate heroes are usually even more unique, own of kind.
But they are also way more fun and rewarding.

i have 70% winrate of CK and Lycan, Clinkz 65%, its 20-25% higher than the global winrate. am i good?

          not.

            wat p9 says,
using high winrate hero is making your life easier to get 70-80% winrate, you can still get 60%-70% winrate if you are using hero that good enough(assuming you're climbing from low rank btw)

yup. start from herald days haha... but i think valve will consider ancient-divine-immortal bracket.
below legend is shitty to be a factor to buff or nerf.

they wont consider ancient/divine bracket unless its super annoying stuff like riki/tinker

                Zarse

Yeah chances are you wont win jackshit if the hero has below 45% you won't might not want to bother

But if the hero has fluctuating values in between 45 to 55% in different BRACKETS then you might want to know why and exploit that to your benefit

That being said, Wisp has 40% winrate and I know a lot of people with 60% winrate on him simply because they only play them in a 2 man combo and I know a bunch of people with more than 51% winrate on nature despise the 40% winrate, simply because people often forget town portal scrolls after the 60 second nerf to them.

So winrates are relevant honestly just past 5k mmr.
