Evasion makes him more tankier and during the cooldown of rage his 12 armor is back too. Str hero benefit greatly from armor and evasion too.
If you are running a heavy minus armor lineup ls slardar and ta, your ta will build deso which cant stack with your own deso however solar crest can stack with deso.
It's bad for ls since you will be tanking the team so most of the time enemy will focus fire on you, and solar crest..... just my 2k cents.

i think ls is more suited to radiance rush as he can infest a creep and apply radiance and the enemy cant do anything. Basically gg.
Solar crest isnt bad imo its outclassed. Solar crest is good on a lot of heroes, but i dont think u buy it unless they have something like a slardar and ta or sf or something. And even then, reluctantly.

Armlet sabre and solar crest is about 17 min in which is very very good timing for ls. Which means faster power spike for ls
Solar Crest is a must-buy item in every game. You just don't buy it all the time, because you want some variety in your games.

I think it's only good if it complements your timing. Like if u can get it much earlier and makes your early game really strong. Otherwise if you're just gonna go deso then u shouldn't go for it. For weaver I would get it because usually getting deso takes too long and u have a power gap. But not sure if that's the case for life stealer.

Its not bad on lifestealer there are just better items and it doesnt fit real well into his normal build.
I would go for solar crest over deso every time. However I like to go armlet into echo saber which means by that time making an AC would be a better option since you need pushing power and attck speed too at this point.
If you pick one from armlet/echo and go directly into solar tho, that would be fine.
Btw Solar + AC + evasion tree upgrade would make LS quite the tank against right-click dmg
If I'm not the tank, but instead damage dealer I have no need to get a solar crest.
If I need to tank then I will think of getting solar crest.
Another example. If I play lifestealer, and I have 3 stuns on my team already, I'll skip abbysal and get something that my team lacks.
