General DiscussionQuantity of active players decreasing after 7.00

There's been a downward trend since the historical peak in February 2016. There was a slight recovery in late September 2016, which again fell away within a month.

There is nothing in the numbers showing 7.00 affected the already existing trend in either direction.

I think the numbers are down due to lack of events and or majors not much going on until what late march?

When a person like to see a things happened he will find every anything that suport him without seeing the truth.

Example : When you just complete clash on a stranger,one smile on her/him will make you think she/he also like you.

If smile come from person you hate you will think he plotting something to hurt you.

As I said, l will be back in a couple of months to see if my thesis is correct.

The most important problem is - what you guys skip - is that developers were probably expecting greater increase in player base, especially from LoL and new players - certainly not a decrease.

Valve made dota a king of e-sport but on the other hand now tries to manipulate life of this product by massive 7.00 changes, just to postpone decrease of avg players activity. But in my opinion it will just lead to even faster decrease. As I said, we will see about it in a couple of months.

I know 3 guys who uninstalled After 7.00 and I did 50 games since 7.00 thats what i did on 1 Weekend before 7.00 and that while i had holidays for 5 weeks now.

What e Sports scene needs is a Team based rts game. like maybe warcraft 4 or Put some effort into aoe 2 maybe.

feels like less of a buzz around the place since 7.00 came out. I could just be projecting though. did all the fps problems get fixed? is there a chunk of players from poor countries that had a worse experience since the change?

a lot of people who enjoyed afk farming will have quit I imagine.

also feels like you have to concentrate a lot more now. more intense game - I think the same people who liked afk farming don't like that change.

builds are a lot more complicated now as well with the extra degrees of freedom from the talent tree. maybe the game is too complicated for casuals now?

a game of dota is a different experience in 7.0x than in 6.88 for sure.

7.00 is the best dota ever imo though. it's like all those cs1.6 players hated cs:s even though it was clearly better. ppl dont like big changes.

The only reason I play dota is because there are no other good games out. When a good game comes out people will leave dota for it

coz tbh the only competition dota has atm is overwatch. and i have not heard of any upcoming big releases.

If you check out the Dota2 in steam store, there are lots of dislikes and most of them criticized the 7.00 saying "Dota is dead".

I don't need to play to understand what's happening. I can analyze a patch much better than that fucking fraud Purge and I can confirm that shit just from watching streams. Dota is fucking dead. If you even bothered to understand the meaning of the changes you would be able to conclude the same, but most people don't and instead question the people that do. Now, questioning is the right way to go when you don't understand but when you discredit them based on simple approaches, get convinced by non relevant numbers (in this case talent trees and their WIDE distribution/effect - NOT; same applies to shrines) and get blinded by a seemingly new and random unfolding of events you're doing it wrong. Then again I cannot just go around and blame you for your ignorance or lack of skill or passion for the game, after all the same is happening with this global warming bullshit and spam of both scholar and non scholar people spouting shit and convincing the masses. And I get it, because not everyone is at the level of understanding stuff like this even when getting education from a somewhat recognized institution. People I worked with refered to as engineers lacked this basic logic and got positions to boss around and paid accordingly, you could try to understand the pain I felt, the implications of this in todays society. The kind that gets ahead just by reading some random bullshit, not bothering on the origin of it, the circumstances involving it, surroundings, condition, complexity and such of innumerable other factors that may or may not play a role, just taking it as a given, applying it wrongly other places which not only results in a lacking analysis, a completely wrong one instead with the following conclusions and actions that follow. And that shit develops FAST. Heck, here in Norway some wannabe saving the earth fucking losers convinced the government to ban diesel cars in OSLO because it was the sole reason for there being smog/contamination and the reason people with asma die right and left in the city. They repealed that shit today, it lasted 2 fucking days and they concluded that that shit they pulled where i think there were 30% less such cars resulted in the numbers for contamination lowering to an acceptable green level. Do you really think 2 days could have an effect like that which in lets say 1 week would be neutralized? Do I now NEED to TEST (play dota) that shit out to realize it's fucking bullshit? And would you think that's the way to go in case the levels in fact where at a point of concern? (This part can be compared to the Low Priority management too)

That's the problem with gamers today, single player games used to be huge but now people only want multiplayer shit. Final fantasy xv, doom, dragon quest, dioblo. There are good games still, overwatch is garbage.

There are two reasons why there's decrease of playerbase that don't have anything incomon with 7.0

1. midterms for highschoolers, exams for university students that lead to people prefering school over gaming
2. no active battlepass - at the chart you posted, you can clearly see that those quests really bring people to play more games thus increasing average

then count for overwatch taking some players from DotA (but OW players should come from CS:GO or battlefield mostly)

The patch is good because it removed dunces from the game. The people who quit probably have a very high game count with low mmr.

It's too early to tell if the game is actially dying because of 7.00, but to be honest the quality of games I had increases ever since the patch came

It has no impact on avg. players activity cos the tendency in 2015 was growing in the same period and now completely opposite. Ofc there was a winter battle pass then, but it was very bad, and almost none of my ex100 steam_friends bought it. It may also have a connection with product lifetime from economy, but with 7.00 changes tendency should be completely opposite, or at least stable.

Some people care who spent their last 9-10 years with it. People might be shocked if FIFA would add an additional ball into a football match. U can google that almost 50% are declaring that they played dota since dota1. Sample was 5k players, so this statistics are not trustworthy, but this patch was certainly a shock to many people.

Honestly, why tf does a 17% change matter. Its a simple fucking process, u like game? Cool then play it. No like game? Then stop fucking playing it. Last update made me realise that icefrog has no idea what hes doing anymore so i also quit just like u. Valve lost so many veteran players in this patch.
@jacked also true the second reason i quit is valve put in me in low prio coz of broken reporting system and im refusing to accept this undeserved punishment.
