I believe once you dropped out more than 5 minutes it automatically counts as a loss, and you lose high priority and no xp for 24 hours, even if you reconnected after 5 minutes. If it's a friend and you know he will come back, pause the game.

freddy was credited with a loss on this game "http://dotabuff.com/matches/130403100" even though we won. His dota 2 crashed and when he relogged he was unable to rejoin the game, dire team eventually won, and we were all credited with wins except for freddy, is this supposed to happen?
