dota isnt 1v1 game, and obviously its hard to win with 3 stpd who pick core hitter vs am with decent sups
am is a pretty big counter to slark, you're not gonna kill him solo unless he makes mistakes or you coordinate with your team to lock him down
for items you need to have abyssal, bkb, and possibly mkb if he buys butterfly. after boots and silver edge that doesn't give you a lot of room to itemise for other things
u sort of just have to capitalize on the fact that your team is playing 5v4 and also not get skadi and prioritize stuff like abysal butterflly and maybe linekns
Silver edge to disable his passive if he manta pounce into it and u will know which is the real am if he fight back dont wait until ur mana gone just ulti. U can get bloodthorn also but i never build it on slark.
You have to snowball really hard and your team must be a group of really annoying heroes for am from laning stage to mid\lategame

Slark is a tough fish, but not the right fish for the job. Why, ole Slardar is the right fish to eat the AM whole. First, you will need to rush a blink daggar. Then, hit level 6. Then, you ult AM, and as he blinks away, you will find him, and you will kill him before he can blink away again. Then you stalk him and do that again 5 or so more times and he will be shut down so hard that you should uninstall if you still manage to lose.
Slardar hurts am really bad tho. He can disable am with his first skill, mark him for death, and hit him hoping for a bash. Then with that true sight, it will be harder for him to just blink and continue farming/tp back to fountain.

Whenever I play Slark AM is always a pain, from the mana burn, to the mana void, to the blink.
What are ways to play around this? What items would you get? Do you kill his team and build up essence shift then fight him?
Just played a pretty passive game, their heroes were pretty slippery, linkens and stuff to stop my initiators, sentries everywhere (however I did manage to play around this a bit) During this time I farmed a bit without being able to gank, because of the opponents great sentry placements and positioning, while generally being near eachother.
Eventually the game started going downhill, I got caught in the most important 2 fights by abyssal blade by AM, was pretty annoying because he was sitting in the back, then I got jumped on, mana got burn and a huge mana void.
