I have 300+ games with SF.
At the begining you are one of the weakest hero in the game, terrible base damage and no spell, so you need to buy stats for starting items. There are two popular starting items. 1) wraith band and two branches 2) stick. in both situations you need 2 shared tangos and try to get bounty rune.
Laning try to get as many last hits/denies as you can and play passive before lvl 3, after you get lvl and some souls you should start dominating lane, try to deny and last hit every creep, Now you have to to harass enemy and force him out of the lane, it is easy if you dual raze w/e him and auto-atack, but the most important think while playing on SF is that you are so squishy and vulnarable to ganks so always watch the mini-map, if supports are missing just go farm/stack jungle.
Matchups
QOP
laning againt qop is hard, she has 65 damage with null tulisman and you have 49 with wraith band, so good qops will deny and last hit every creep, so pro players always skill razes at lvl 1 against qop. Always try not to be in range of shadow strike before lvl 3. once you are lvl 3 you can punish him if he blinks to shadow strike you, you have to q/w raze him and when she retreats use long range raze she is dead. lvl 3 to lvl 6 you are ok to 1 vs 1 her, but if someone ganks you are 100% dead. again play safe and try to stack/farm jungle while farming lane.
TA
TA is nightmare for any sf player with refraction she can out last hit you and you can not harass her because of refraction. if you see enemy has ta never pick sf. This is the worst matchup for sf.
it is also very hard to lane against wr, invoker q/e, tinker.
Item builds
There are many item builds for sf. after bottle and boots you first item choices are mek/blink/shadow blade/S&Y. Almost in all games i get one of these as first big item. i dont like mek in pubs because people dont stack as 5 at min 14 and push. Most of the time i buy blink/shadow blade. When i get this i try to gank and get kills, then push towers. SF is one of the best flash-farmer, but he falls of in late game so try to finish game before 40 mins. thats it

Do what Joyboy said, that's the quickest way to win, same thing if you get the Storm Spirit immortal that gives you a new ultimate effect, you just play better.
300 gamers with sf is nothing. I should have like 5k+ (being modest)
Not SF player, but when you stack camps - stack big one with rightlick & medium one with raze, so u get 2 camps stacked at the same time. I kinda disagree about SF vs TA matchup. She can't do much vs you if u just raze every creep wave & retreat. Of course if ur not close to tower when she is 6, ur pretty much dead. If she is 6 it's good to have a sentry ward in mid to get rid of traps, so u can play more agressivly. I think good SFs wins mid vs TA, but you need to be very good. I think RTZ (or was it sumail) when played as SF vs TA had like 60lh & 30denies in TI5. The problem is that TA is just great vs SF outside of laning stage & after laning stage your food to her.
tbh SF is one of the eziest carries to gank. Rarly seen on ranked. If team is ok, hes punished hard from begining. Especially by roaming earth shaker.
